Eczema

Eczema treatment is about giving the skin the right conditions. We give you the knowledge and tools to help yourself or your child treat both during a flare-up and how to best extend the time between flare-ups.

Treatment of eczema

The most common type of eczema is called atopic eczema. This is very common in children and usually grows out of it on its own, but in some people the symptoms persist into adulthood. Often siblings or parents have also had atopic eczema or other atopic diseases such as asthma and hay fever.

Infants primarily get their atopic eczema on their cheeks, torso and diaper area, while slightly older children and adolescents get eczema in the folds and on the face. Adults primarily get atopic eczema on their hands and in the face-neck region.

The cause of atopic eczema is a genetic fragility of the skin barrier, which means that the skin is not as good at retaining the right amount of moisture and then becomes dehydrated and brittle, which can trigger inflammation and itchy rashes.

There are many other types of eczema that we can also help you with. For example, dandruff eczema and tinea pedis.
