Hakim implant

With a chin implant, we can create better balance in the face when needed.

Balance with Hakim Implants

A beautiful face has balance and if the chin is underdeveloped or retracted, the balance of the face becomes worse. With a chin implant we can create a better balance in the face when needed. If the nose is perceived as large and the chin is small, a chin implant / chin augmentation can give a more balanced appearance and the nose appears smaller.

surgery

There are two types of chin implants - Medpore which grow in and often need to be drilled and the more common silicone implants which are sewn in. The surgery can be done under local anesthesia but is usually done under general anesthesia.

Risks and complications

Common complications

  • Transient swelling
  • Transient decreased sensation in the chin area

Unusual complications

  • The implant is twisting.
  • Visible scar or hypertrophic (thick) scar under the chin
  • Bleeding (first day)
  • Infektion

This is how the operation works

In the morning you will meet your plastic surgeon who will answer your questions and go over what is to be done. You will then be photographed before you go to the operating room. The operation will then take about 30 minutes under general anesthesia and perhaps a little longer under local anesthesia. By making an incision about 3 cm long under the chin (in a crease), we can lift up the thin membrane (periosteum) that surrounds the jawbone. A small channel is created along the lower edge of the jaw and the implant is inserted here. The implant is sewn in place and the skin is sewn together. Afterwards you will be given some tea/coffee before you go home.

Follow-up

After a week you will return to the clinic for a check-up and after 2 weeks you will come for another visit to remove the stitches. After 1-2 weeks it will have healed. It will then take a long time for the scar to mature and become nice and it is good to protect the scar with a piece of tape at first and then use a silicone stick with a sun protection factor so that the scar heals well. An even better alternative is to have laser treatment three times starting about 2 weeks after the operation.

Book a consultation and talk to a specialist to find out what is best for you.
