Forehead lift/Eyebrow lift

As we age, the fullness of the face decreases, the skin becomes less elastic and for some this means that the skin of the forehead lengthens so that the eyebrows are positioned too low. The result is a feeling of too much skin on the eyelids. To keep the eyebrows up and thus improve vision, people often frown.

Treatment and surgery

Sometimes, various injections, which block the muscles that pull the eyebrows down, can be the solution to low eyebrows and headaches. The disadvantage is that you need to take them every six months. Surgery gives a more permanent result. There are several different methods.

Operations

Forehead lift:

A classic procedure to lift the eyebrows and smooth out a wrinkled forehead. The disadvantage is a long scar in the hairline or in the hair with the risk of decreased sensation in the forehead. This method can be considered if you have a high forehead and bangs that can cover a scar.

Endoscopic forehead lift:

Through three smaller ports in the hair-bearing area, the forehead can be lifted with a peephole instrument and anchored with hooks called Endotine that gradually disappear. The advantage is that there are small scars, and there is also little risk that the sensation in the forehead will be affected. The disadvantage is a poorer effect of the eyebrow lift.

Eyebrow lift with upper eyelid surgery:

At the same time as performing an upper eyelid surgery, Endotine is placed above the eyebrows via the incision. The advantage is that the plates are close to the eyebrows, which provides a good lift. The disadvantage is that the plates can feel like a bump on the forehead before they begin to dissolve.

Direct eyebrow lift:

When you cut the skin just above the eyebrow, you get a very precise and good eyebrow lift. The scar usually heals very well, but will always remain above the eyebrow. Women who dye their eyebrows often hide the scar.

Risks and complications

The different methods have different risks. We always try to make the scars as small as possible. That is why endoscopic forehead lifts with small incisions are good. A direct eyebrow lift gives a very good effect but at the same time a more visible scar. Which method is suitable for you, Carolina or Richard will discuss with you during the consultation.

  • Worse sensation in certain areas of the forehead.
  • Scars, of varying lengths depending on the method.
  • That the lift will not be as large as planned depending on the method.

This is how the operation works

In the morning, you will meet with your surgeon to go over the operation and get any questions answered. These operations can be done under either local or general anesthesia.

Follow-up and convalescence

After a week you will come back to check the wound, change the tape and bandages. These operations usually cause bruising, sometimes almost none and sometimes a little more. They will disappear of course, but it usually takes a couple of weeks. You can start working after one or two weeks. It depends a bit on your work and how much swelling and bruising you get. The swelling will gradually disappear, but you can see the results of the operation immediately. You will only see the final result when all the swelling has subsided and the scars have matured, which can take up to a year.
