Treatment of psoriasis
Psoriasis is a hereditary chronic skin disease that affects 2–3% of the Swedish population. The skin rash has a typical appearance and is red, sharply demarcated, slightly raised patches with a whitish scaling.
Psoriasis patches often appear on the elbows, knees and scalp but can appear anywhere on the body. Some people get single small patches while others get significantly larger areas of skin covered in psoriasis.
Sometimes people with psoriasis may experience an increase in the number of patches and their spread over a period of time, and triggers can include infections, stress or new medications. These factors can sometimes also be a part of the psoriasis rash appearing in the first place.
