Hair transplantation

Male pattern baldness has always been a concern for many men, and by the age of fifty, about half of men are affected in some way. Heredity plays a big role, and some are affected as early as their twenties. Many women also experience thinning hair in middle age – but female pattern baldness manifests itself more as a thinning of the hair rather than receding hairlines and baldness.
With a hair transplant we can “take from the rich and give to the poor” i.e. we take hair, often from the back of the head, and move it to the areas that have lost hair. Approximately 90-95% of the transplanted hair follicles “attach” and provide a long-term natural result.
With us at Elite Clinic It is always a dermatologist who performs the procedure. To get the best results, accuracy, precision and a sense of aesthetics are needed.
The procedure
We use the most modern method and move individual hair follicles individually, the so-called FUE technique ( Follicular Unit Extraction) . The method leaves only minimal scars that are very discreet. The transplanted hairs are inserted one by one to achieve natural hair growth. We are the only clinic in the Nordic region that uses NeoGraft® , a revolutionary machine. Neograft is the most used and popular method in the USA where hair transplants are performed to a very large extent. Now it is finally coming to Europe and we are the first clinic in Sweden to invest in it. In order for the hair follicles to survive, it is important to pick them out intact and undamaged, Neograft sucks up the hair follicle instead of pulling it out with tweezers.
The transplant is done under local anesthesia but often with the addition of a little sedative medication as the procedure can last several hours. The size of the procedure can of course vary depending on how many hair follicles are to be moved (500 to 3500 is common) which depends on individual conditions. We tailor each treatment to achieve optimal results.
Results
Expectations after a hair transplant are usually high and most people are very satisfied. However, it is important to perform the procedure at the right time and follow the aftercare recommendations we provide to give the hair follicles the best possible chance of surviving in their new location. We will help you and you will come for a follow-up visit to our dedicated expert.
Hair grows in different phases and growth begins immediately but can take almost a year before the full end result is visible. The conditions of each individual are crucial for the end result and we will go over this in the consultation before the procedure.
Hair loss is an ongoing process and you need to take into account what you can expect in the future, taking into account age and heredity. Sometimes it may be necessary to repeat the treatment for best results.

Hair transplant with excellent results already at the 6-month check-up. Final check-up takes place at 12 months.
Aftercare and convalescence
Expect to stay home for the first 1-2 weeks as the hair follicles are still sensitive. It is not particularly painful but can cause swelling, bruising and the transplanted area will be a little sore for a week or so.
A few days after the procedure, you will return to the clinic for help washing your scalp. With us, a number of treatments with PRP are always included. PRP stands for Platelet Rich Plasma and the treatment stimulates hair growth by "waking up" dormant hair follicles to achieve stronger hair growth. The plasma is obtained through a small amount of blood that is taken as a regular blood sample and then centrifuged.
Follow-up
In addition to the follow-up immediately after the procedure, we would like to meet with you after 3, 6 and 12 months. Only after 12 months can we assess the final result. For us, it is important that you feel satisfied and it is always fun to see the result. Should the result not correspond to what we can expect, we offer a corrective procedure.
Risks and complications
There are very few medical risks with the procedure, but in very rare cases infection may occur. In case of severe scarring or pigmented skin, visible dots or spots may appear on the back of the head where the hair follicles were taken. We will go over your possible risks during the consultation.
Applications
The most common areas to transplant hair to are the high forehead, hairline and crown, but beards or eyebrows can also be transplanted. For some with less extensive hair loss, a PRP treatment can be very effective.
