Lipo-suction
To imagine lipo-suction Losing weight quickly is tempting for many people. However, different areas of the body are more suitable for liposuction. In general, it involves reducing the volume of fat deposits on the body, without cutting away any skin. This way, there are minimal scars. Only subcutaneous fat can be treated with liposuction and the best results are obtained if there is a well-defined fat deposit and good elasticity in the skin.
operations
In a traditional liposuction, we first inject liposuction solution into the tissue and then suck out the fat and fluid using a cannula that can vary in size. We also have a modern method PAL, power assisted liposuction, which makes the operation easier and safer for the patient if it involves slightly larger liposuctions. To access the area from multiple angles, we make a few small holes in the skin where we insert the needles. We make as few and small holes as possible. When we sew them together afterwards, there will be minimal scarring. The operation is usually performed under general anesthesia, but we can do smaller areas with local anesthesia. Immediately after the operation, you will be given a compression garment in the form of a girdle, pants or vest, depending on the area that was operated on.
Results
The effect is clear immediately after the operation, but since swelling can linger for a long time, it takes a little longer before you can see the final result. It is common for women who dislike their “riding pants legs” to immediately feel more comfortable and less restricted in their clothing choices. The love handles, which for most people are very difficult to get rid of through diet and exercise, are an excellent area for liposuction, for both men and women.
Follow-up
After a week, you will return to the clinic to have the stitches removed and to check that everything is healing properly. Bruising and swelling are common, but they will go away on their own. You will continue to wear the compression garment for several weeks.
Aftercare and convalescence
Liposuction is usually not very painful and you can get back on your feet quickly. Of course, this depends on how much liposuction has been done. It is good for the result if you have massages or LPG treatments starting a week or so after surgery. It is unusual to need a sick leave certificate for liposuction alone, but you may need to be home from work for a few days.
Risks and complications
There is a risk of bleeding and infection with all procedures, but with liposuction this is very rare. Blood clots, which can be a serious complication, do occur but are rare. We always assess whether you should receive blood-thinning medication after the operation.
Different people and areas of the body are different for liposuction. If there is already excess skin, liposuction is rarely good. This is because no skin is removed. The best results are obtained if the skin has good elasticity. There may also be more or less clear irregularities in the subcutaneous fat. If you gain weight after liposuction, these irregularities can be amplified.
Applications
The chin and neck are common and appreciated areas for liposuction because it provides an immediate effect on the jawline and profile.
Liposuction of the arms is possible but is most often done in conjunction with an arm lift because the skin can be thin andh oeelastic.
Breast consists of fat and glandular tissue and liposuction is mainly relevant in men, usually in combination with surgical removal of the gland. It is common for women to have an extra fat pad up towards the armpit that is amenable to liposuction.
When discussing liposuction, the stomach is often mentioned and there are patients who can perfectly well have liposuction of the stomach with great results. However, it is not suitable for women who have been pregnant. If you have problems with a bloated stomach, it is more likely due to weak and stretched abdominal muscles, only exceptionally is it subcutaneous fat.
The hips or “love handles” are an area that bothers both women and men. These fat deposits are often difficult to get rid of, despite exercise and a good diet. Many people find that they are the last thing to disappear and that it takes almost an unreasonable effort to get rid of them. This is an area that lends itself very well to liposuction. In women, liposuction can make a big difference in the appearance of the entire buttocks.
The legs are well suited for liposuction, especially the outer thighs, known as the breeches, and the area around the knees. The inner thighs also work well, but there is a risk of the skin becoming loose because it is often thin and inelastic. The calves and ankles can also be liposuctioned with good results.
