BBL - Brazilian Butt Lift

BBL – what is Brazilian Butt Lift?

BBL is an abbreviation for Brazilian Butt Lift and is one of the plastic surgeries that many people wonder about the most. A butt augmentation with the body's own fat gives the butt more volume and makes it fuller and rounder. Our body ideals vary over time and in recent years BBL - to achieve a full and round butt - has become increasingly popular. Famous people, such as Kim Kardashian, with perhaps excessively large buttocks, have focused on the butt. In our Scandinavian countries, however, the ideals vary compared to Latin American countries. But there are many who feel that their butt is too flat and want a more athletic butt. Others want fuller and curvier shapes. Of course, we are born with different body shapes. Some have a slightly flatter butt even at a younger age, while others experience that the shapes change and the butt sags with age or after pregnancies.

Now that the technology exists to shape and fill the butt, BBL has become a surgery that more and more people are asking for to achieve their ideal desired shape.

surgery

To fill and shape the butt in a BBL, fat is sucked from other parts of the body. The operation involves moving fat from one place to another. You can only use fat from your own body. The “love handles” and the area around the waist are especially good places to take the fat because they enhance the effect of the procedure. We can also combine the procedure with liposuction on other parts, such as the thighs. Before we inject the fat into the butt, we separate the fat cells from fluid and blood. The fat is used to provide projection (put) and shape. How much of the injected fat survives depends partly on individual variations, but also on how you take care of yourself after the operation. The operation is performed under anesthesia and takes about two hours, depending on how many areas are to be liposuctioned.

Results

The extra projection (put) that the butt gets after the BBL operation is enhanced by the fact that we have liposuctioned the waist area. The butt gets a more elastic and youthful appearance. The result depends a lot on your specific conditions. The procedure is not suitable for everyone. It takes months to see the final result, which depends on how much fat has survived. Between half and two-thirds of what is injected usually survives and gives the butt its new shape.

Follow-up

You will return to the clinic after about a week. Then we will remove the stitches after the liposuction. It will take many months before you can see the final result of your BBL because the areas that we have liposuctioned can swell for a long time after the operation. It will take a few months before you can see how much fat has survived, at first even the buttocks are swollen. After about six months we will call you for a final check-up to make sure that you are satisfied with the result of your BBL.

Aftercare and convalescence

When it comes to BBL, the aftercare is absolutely crucial for the result. The fat that has been moved to the buttock must be given the best possible chance of survival. This means that you should not sit or lie on your buttock for the first 4–6 weeks. You can have a rolled towel or similar placed under your sit bones so that you do not press on the operated area. In order for the fat to have a chance to heal, smoking is absolutely prohibited. You should also wear a girdle on the areas that we have liposuctioned. For 4–6 weeks, you should avoid exercise and other major activities. In exceptional cases, sick leave may be justified.

Risks and complications

Like all surgical procedures, Brazilian Butt Lift has risks. Bleeding and infection risk are present with all surgery, but are not common with BBL. In the USA, where the number of BBLs has increased dramatically in recent years, several cases of serious complications with so-called fat embolism have occurred. Fat embolism is best described as fat clots in the bloodstream. They occur if the fat is incorrectly or accidentally injected into the blood vessels. Fat embolism can have serious complications and deaths have occurred.
