BTX – Muscle relaxant reduces wrinkles caused by muscles contracting, for example when we frown. The frown line between the eyes can be treated so that it disappears, the skin becomes smoother, the eyes more open and the upper lip less wrinkled. BTX – Muscle relaxant prevents wrinkled skin.

Treatment with muscle relaxants is carried out by our experienced nurses who are certified by the Swedish Association for Aesthetic Medicine (formerly the Aesthetic Injection Council).

Botox® is perhaps the most well-known brand of botulinum toxins, BTX. We use Botox® and Azzalure®, which are two well-proven variants. Muscle relaxation has become an extremely popular treatment and most people are now familiar with its effects. By injecting extremely small doses, we knock out the muscles that create wrinkles. It is also a common medical treatment for excessive sweating, cramps and migraines under certain conditions.

On Elite Clinic We treat mainly in the aesthetic field, common are the worry wrinkles between the eyebrows and forehead but also the small wrinkles around the eyes, so-called crow's feet. We also treat the jaw muscle which is an excellent treatment for teeth grinding and can give a slightly softer more feminine face shape if it is very strong.

Sweating treatment

We can treat the hands, armpits and feet with muscle relaxant injections to reduce sweating. Hyperhidrosis is a common problem that affects many people and our dermatologists and injection nurses have extensive experience in helping patients who suffer from excessive sweating.

THE TREATMENT

The treatment is done with extremely small needles and in very small doses, and it is quick to treat.

RESULTS

The results of the treatment come gradually over a few days, so we can only assess the full effect after a week, a little more. For some, the effect will be more pronounced than for others, this is probably due to the fact that we have different muscle strengths, but also other individual variations. Wrinkles that are a little deeper have often created a fold in the skin, this can take more than one treatment to smooth out. The effect usually lasts for 3-4 months, but with individual variations.

FOLLOW-UP

We always include a follow-up visit after 1-2 weeks to evaluate the results, sometimes we need to refill further to get the desired effect.

AFTERMATH AND CONVALESCENCE

Immediately after a treatment, you should avoid massaging the treated muscles and also refrain from strenuous physical exercise for the first day. Otherwise, no recovery time is needed and you can live as usual.

RISKS AND COMPLICATIONS

There may be small bruises at the injection site and sometimes a little redness occurs a few hours after the treatment. Some patients experience side effects in the form of headaches for a few days to a week after treatment, this type of headache can usually be treated well with regular over-the-counter painkillers. In rare cases, or when higher doses are used, an effect on nearby muscles may be noticeable.
